Healing your Spirit:
Letter from Maria Pawlowski:
SPIRIT TRUMPS MATTER
I believe the first and foremost
prevention measure in the event of a flu epidemic warning is to realize
that we are Spiritual Beings and it serves us well to take a spiritual
perspective in all matters. From a spiritual point of view, symptoms
from the body are signals that something is amiss or needs changing in
some area or areas of our lives.
Based upon the above belief,
I offer a few suggestions for preventing disease and keeping well.
First, keep our focus on wellness. With gratitude and appreciation,
spend a portion of each and every day reflecting upon all that is right
and well with us, with our loved ones and with our world. An attitude
of gratitude and appreciation trumps any germ, any time, anywhere.
Second,
reflect upon our lives. Look with a spirit of sincerity at where we are
in our lives, where we want to be and how we can take steps to reach
our destination. Be aware of our thoughts and our thinking processes.
Are our minds filled with fear based thoughts or with love based
thoughts? We attract what we focus on. If we focus on the flu, on germs
or on any other ideas of dis-ease, loss or lack, we are calling these
things to us.
Third, and maybe this should have come first,
laugh. Laugh long, hard and loud. Laughter is good medicine. We are
created to experience and express joy. Keep it light rather than heavy.
Life can be a bleak melodrama or a musical comedy. Put on some music
and dance. Take a brisk walk
or even a not so brisk walk in the beautiful and cool fall air. Set
your own pace. Don’t allow yourselves to be rushed or take impulsive
action due to the demands of an absurdly fast paced world. Get in the
flow of spiritual energy
and don’t allow yourselves to be moved by anything intruding from the
outside. Peace, joy and radiant health come from within, from
connection to Creation.
Have a reading, get a Reiki treatment, massage or some other form of energetic bodywork. Take a class in Qi Gong, Yoga
or Belly Dancing. Reach out to receive help and to offer help in a
caring, compassionate and supportive manner. Take advantage of the many
forms of alternative healing modalities. Stop in at ITI and take a look
at the business cards, brochures and flyers offering an abundant
variety of therapeutic and healing techniques.
Meditate on
wholeness and wellbeing. Know that in all our relationships, we always
have the option of choosing to relate in a healing and therapeutic way,
including and maybe especially in our relationship with ourselves. If
our bodies do signal us with some distressing physical symptoms or
feelings, we can take it as Mother Nature’s faithful reminder to STOP
following the usual routines. We can retrieve our time and energy by
putting them to the excellent use of rethinking, reconsidering,
reevaluating, reordering and restructuring our lives and relationships.
Be well.
